“Brave” Space Policy

Let’s be real, it’s very difficult to create a “safe space” as this term means so many different things to many people. We prefer the term “brave space”, because here, we want you to be bold, brave and authentically yourself. Little Gay Brother strives to be as “inclusive” as possible for the LGBTQIA+ community, creating a place where anyone should feel they can participate and enjoy without fear of feeling marginalised, harassed, or unwelcome.
We have a zero-tolerance of racism, sexism, homophobia, bi-phobia, transphobia, dis-ablism, or prejudice based on age, ethnicity, nationality, class, gender, gender presentation, language ability, or religious affiliation. By entering you agree to treat all people equally and without prejudice or presumptions. If you’re not from the LGBTQIA+ community, you’re a guest and should show respect. Never touch anyone without consent.

Any conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment will not be tolerated, including sexual harassment or abuse of power. Please alert door staff if you see anyone in a vulnerable position, intoxicated, and therefore not able to act wisely. Be free, be safe and look after each other.

Security and bag searches

You have the right to choose either a security member to search you before entering. Security work to keep our community safe. They have the right to work without abuse. Our door staff reserve the right to refuse entry to those who refuse to be searched, people without correct ID, those who are too intoxicated or caught with illegal substances, those with bad vibes & people that have broken our hearts.

Little Gay Brother’s anti-racism code of practice

Little Gay Brother is dedicated to supporting artistic freedom and providing a supportive space for a wide and diverse range of performances. We recognise that racism is an issue at all levels of society especially within the LGBTQ+ community. Our commitment to anti-racism is part of our wider commitment to equality and social inclusion.

Little Gay Brother understands racism is a particular form of exclusion faced by minority ethnic groups. It is based on the false belief that some "races" are inherently superior to others because of skin colour, nationality, ethnic or cultural background. Little Gay Brother wishes to dismantle those beliefs and power structures that hold racism born out of white supremacy.

Little Gay Brother is committed to this code of practice, and urge all our venues and partners to follow;

  • Little Gay Brother has a zero tolerance for any harassment, racist behaviour, racist language and those individuals will be asked to leave our venue or space

  • Little Gay Brother takes action to protect those who experience any harassment or discrimination

  • Little Gay Brother refuses entry to anyone wearing culturally insensitive or racist attire

  • Little Gay Brother want to set a standard to show others that we are a proud multicultural and diverse community, and only love is welcomed in our space and venues Little Gay Brother commits itself, to make racism a visible issue through:

    • Communicating our anti-racist ethos in our Respect Policy, on our ticketing websites, on social media, to our partners including festivals, clubs, DJs and organisation that work with us

    • Little Gay Brother conducts ongoing awareness and training on racism and anti-racist practices

    • Little Gay Brother reminds customers that cultural appropriation is racism

    • Little Gay Brother is available to listen to guest’s experiences and feedback on our policies so we can improve them

    • Little Gay Brother refuses to work or promote any brands that are racist, those that fund hate, or perpetuate negative stereotypes of minority ethnic groups

    • Little Gay Brother actively reminds our partners of our values and asks them to adopt our anti-racist respect policies when work with us
